Hi, everyone. Today’s talk is about moisturizer.
First question comes into mind: what is that? Do all of us need it? What to expect from using it?
So, first things first, moisturizer are mixture of chemical agents, designed to make the external layer of the skin softer and more pliable. They basically increase the skin’s hydration (water content) by reducing evaporation. (In short, even if you do have oily skin, you still need moisturizer). Moisturizer prevents and treats dry skin, protect sensitive skin, improve skin tone and texture, and mask imperfections.
I have dry skin. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that my skin doesn’t produce oil throughout the day. So, what moisturizer actually does? It can give your skin the hydration it needed. So, all type of skin needed hydration, to keep the skin in good shape. Your skin will start to wrinkle if it lacks of hydration and vitamin. Many ways you can do to maintain your skin, i.e. to eat healthy, drink a lot of water, and apply some skincare to your skin. So, the basic of all skincare routine (in my opinion) is moisturizer. When you go out to do your activities, your skin exposed to the surroundings. For me, I work at the office. So, even though I have dry skin and I do my activities inside an office with full air conditioner, my skin still producing oil and it will get drier if I don’t put any skincare. So, it is very vital to apply a basic moisturizer to your skin, because it can improve hydration while reducing evaporations.
While the main purpose of moisturizer is to hydrate your skin, it can also do other good things to your skin. So, depending on what ingredients are mixed inside the moisturizer, some of them can also improve any discoloration (if you have any), to brighten up your dull skin, and many other things. So, this item is very basic, yet very vital.
I wanted to share with you about my moisturizer. Currently, I used 2 different product for my day and night moisturizer. They came from the same brand, Clinique.
I’ve been using this Clinique Even Better Brightening Moisturizer Cream Plus for about a year now. So, my kinda-long story short-thing: back when I was in college, I don’t apply any sun block on my face. And because of that, my face is darker than the rest of my body (I used trousers and jacket to cover my body). So, after I got graduated, I feel insecure about my face, and it is a dilemma for me to buy a foundation. Like, if I want to match my face with the rest of my body, it will be too light, but if I want to match my face, then my face will be different than the rest of my body. I found this Clinique Even Better Brightening Moisturizer Cream Plus and try it. At first, I didn’t notice the differences. But I think after 1 pack of this moisturizer, I can see the differences. My face brightens up, but not too overwhelming. I’m satisfied for the result so I continue to use this product until now. I can say that my face now matches the rest of my body. And I’m very happy for the result.
I like the texture of this Clinique Even Better Brightening Moisturizer Cream Plus. It is a white cream, but the cream is not too heavy, almost feels like a gel. It hydrates my skin well than the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel.
The second product that I used for my night moisturizer is Clinique Moisture Surge. I bought this like 2 weeks ago. I have already tried this product in sample sizes (they like to give you some samples or travel sizes products if you bought at some amount). Honestly, I really like how Clinique Moisture Surge disappeared on my skin. It feels almost like water-gelly thing.
So, I used to not apply anything before going to bed. I just don’t. But then, I had a beauty talk with my lovely sister, and she said it is really important to also moisture your skin at night. So I had the Clinique Moisture Surge before and I thought, well, why not? So I bought that, and I’ve been using it at night. I can’t tell you any significant differences, yet. But it is changing. I can feel my skin a lot more hydrated. I will update you on the Clinique Moisture Surge in a month.
Stay safe everyone. Cheers!
